Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State president V. Muraleedharan has dared the Communist Party of India (Marxist) to furnish evidence of forced conversions in the State.
Mr. Muraleedharan told reporters here on Tuesday that the CPI(M) should furnish proof of any unlawful activities in this regard.
The CPI(M) had accused the Sangh Parivar of disrupting the law and order situation through conversions.
Instead of levelling such charges, the party should furnish evidence so that it could be probed.
Even Chief Minister Oommen Chandy had said there were no forced conversions in the State, Mr. Muraleedharan he said.
This was a CPI(M) ploy to escape the wrath of the workers by diverting their attention to such issues.
He accused the CPI(M) of trying to reap benefits of the BJP’s agitation against the government on the solar scam.
It was the BJP which put Mr. Chandy in the dock on the issue.
The CPI(M) refused to give evidence before the commission appointed to probe the scam.
It also unilaterally withdrew a siege of the Secretariat. The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) would soon launch an agitation against the corrupt practices of the UDF government, he said.
Plachimada BillMr. Muraleedharan clarified that the Centre had not returned the Plachimada Bill of the State government.
The Centre had only sought an explanation why the State was not taking up the issue with the National Green Tribunal constituted to look into such issues.
