Following reports of actor Dileep hiring personnel to guard him during public appearances, the Ernakulam rural police have served a notice on him seeking more details about the members of his security team and the weapons they carry, if any.

Confirming the move, official sources said the notice primarily sought to know why the actor engaged private guards, whether these guards were using any arms, and the licence details of the same.

The actor has been directed to furnish his response on Monday.

The actor, accused of hatching a conspiracy to abduct and sexually assault a female actor, has hired the service of a Goa-based agency, which has deployed three guards to secure the actor from mobs round-the-clock.

The security guards had reached the actor’s residence at Aluva two days ago in a move that indeed caught the local police by surprise.

Following this, a Special Branch officer was sent to his home to collect details of the agency.

As per reports, the Kerala unit of the security agency is headed by a retired IPS officer.
