President arrives in Kochi for a two-day visit

President Prathiba Patil arrived here on a two-day visit from the Agathy island in union territory of Lakshadweep on Sunday.

Ms. Patil was received at the airport by a host of dignitaries including Governor R S Gavai, Chief Minister V S Achuthananthan, Union minister for Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi, Union minister of state for agriculture Prof K V Thomas and Vice Admiral K N Sushil, Flag officer Commanding in Chief, Southern Naval Command.

The President will inaugurate the two-day national conference of the All India Federation of Women Lawyers on Monday.

Nearly 1200 policemen along with commandoes have been deployed at the Naval airport in the city and at the Guest House, where she is staying.
