Preparations for the National Games are progressing at various venues in the city. The events as part of the National Games will be started in February first week in Thrissur. The renovation of VKN Menon indoor stadium has been completed.
Events like weight lifting and judo competition will be held here. The equipment and artificial floor for the weight lifting competition have arrived. Work is progressing to install them.
The weight lifting competition will be held from February 1 to February 5 at the VKN Menon indoor stadium. The judo competition will be held from February 6 to February 13. However, the development work at the corporation stadium, which is the venue for women’s football competition, is progressing at a snail’s pace.
Though ADGP P.Shankar Reddy, who monitored the safety arrangements at the stadium, had asked the authorities to remove the piled up soil from the stadium one month ago, no steps have been taken in that regard.
