N.K. Premachandran, the United Democratic Front (UDF) candidate in Kollam, visited his alma mater Fatima Mata National College here on Wednesday as part of his election campaign. He was accorded a rousing welcome by large sections of students.

Actor Asif Ali, who was there to inaugurate the College Day celebrations, also joined the students. He met the staff of the college as part of the campaign.

Mr. Premachandran campaigned in the Eravipuram Assembly segment represented by his party secretary A.A. Azeez. As part of the campaign, he went to shopping malls, markets, and wayside shops to meet voters. He also met autorickshaw drivers.

The Kollam, Eravipuram, and Chathannur Assembly segment conventions of the UDF will be held on Thursday. The Chavara Assembly segment convention will be held on Friday.
