KERALA, PALAKKAD,20/04/2015.Plus One student Pranav who born without limbs is now overcoming his disability by drawing pictures using limbs.

V.S. Pranav, a Plus Two student from Kattussery village in the district, is conquering his disability with sheer will and determination. Born without arms, Pranav uses his toes instead to draw pictures, play harmonium, and do other tasks.

Last year, he became the State champion at the Paralympics Games.

“It was extremely difficult in the initial days to draw pictures and play keyboard using the legs. But my parents encouraged me to engage in relentless efforts to win over the disability. It was their constant support that helped me win over the obstacles,’’ says Pranav, who has won prizes in a number of drawing competitions. He also has an impressive academic track record.

“Self confidence is a necessity to overcome hurdles in life. If there is a will, surely there must be a way. That is what I learnt from my life,” he says. Born in a lower income family, Pranav is grateful to his neighbours and friends who help him participate in district-level and State-level events. His expertise in sports, music and drawing has made him the darling of the entire village.

“My father Balasubramanyan is working at a timber yard on meagre wages. My mother, Swarnakumari, is a housewife. We do not even have a house of our own. But I am hopeful of winning more recognitions in my chosen fields,” he said.

“He is bright in studies and extracurricular activities. His optimism in life inspires me too. The villagers are supporting him even financially so that he can take part in various competitions,” says Mr. Balasubramanyan.
