Political solution for peace in Nadapuram: Mullappally

February 27, 2011 05:19 pm | Updated November 17, 2021 03:39 am IST - Kozhikode:

The continuing violence in Nadapuram could be averted only through a suitable political solution, Minister of State for Home Mullappally Ramachandran has said.

Speaking to presspersons on the sidelines of the Nadapuram incident here on Sunday, Mr. Ramachandran alleged that political party leadership in Kerala had a clear knowledge about the ghastly activities taking place in the violence-torn Nadapuram.

Mr. Ramachandran claimed that local-level peace meetings would hardly bring any benefit to reinstate peace in the region. The Home Ministry in Kerala should take up the initiative to convene a State-level meeting of political party leaders to put an end to the frequent clashes, he demanded.

Mr. Ramachandran said that all political parties would be ready to cooperate with the move if the State government took the initiative. He also told reporters that he would meet State Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan to discuss the issues for finding out a lasting solution.
