A day after subjecting actor Dileep and his film-maker friend Nadirshah to marathon interrogation, the police appear still undecided whether to register a First Information Report (FIR) on the alleged blackmailing bid against Dileep or not.
Officials attributed this to lack of clarity in the complaint filed by the actor and held that the police needed to verify the statements collected and examine a few other aspects before proceeding further. ‘‘A few more aspects of this allegation are needed to be analysed,’’ A.V. George, Superintendent of Police, Ernakulam Rural, told media persons here on Thursday, while seeking to set aside any further queries in this direction.
According to him, the focus of the ongoing probe is on the purported criminal conspiracy behind the abduction episode. ‘‘However, we are probing all angles of the case, including the 120 (b) angle as well as the complaint by Dileep,’’ he said.
Earlier, the police had interrogated Dileep and Nadirshah for about 13 hours at the Aluva Police Club in connection with the case. The interrogation which had begun around 12.30 noon on Wednesday continued till 1.15 a.m. on Thursday. Besides the duo, Appunni, a close aide of actor Dileep, also gave his statement.
Commenting on the police interrogation, Dileep reiterated his earlier stance that he had been summoned to give the statement on his complaint of a blackmailing bid. The police later maintained that the actor and his friend would be interrogated once again, if required, and the police were yet to give a clean chit to them.
Meanwhile, ‘Pulsar’ Suni, an accused in the abduction case, has approached the district prison authorities with a request seeking to change his lawyer.
