The Town Police here on Monday evening registered a case against K. Sudhakaran, MP, under Section 353 (assault or criminal force to deter a public servant from discharging his duties) following a report by District Collector V.K. Balakrishnan.

The police also included IPC Sections 448 (criminal trespass) and 294-B (use of obscene language). The offence under Section 353 being a non-bailable offence, the police officials, however, refused to say whether the MP would be arrested in the case.

Meanwhile, senior Congress leaders including Leader of the Opposition Oommen Chandy went into a huddle to discuss the situation following the report of the Collector to register the case against the Mr. Sudhakaran.
