PM on 3-day visit to Kerala

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh reached here on Friday evening on a three-day visit, during which he is slated to attend five programmes, two in Thiruvananthapuram, and the rest in Kochi.

The special aircraft of the Indian Air Force carrying the Prime Minister touched down at the airport at 7.45 p.m.

Dr. Singh, accompanied by his wife Gursharan Kaur and Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation K.C. Venugopal, was welcomed on the tarmac by Governor Nikhil Kumar, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development Shashi Tharoor, Union Minister of State for Labour Kodikunnil Suresh, Health Minister V.S. Sivakumar, Mayor K. Chandrika, Chief Secretary E.K. Bharat Bhushan, State Police Chief K.S. Balasubramanian, and City Police Commissioner P. Vijayan.

Kerala Ministers Ramesh Chennithala, Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, K.M. Mani, P.K. Kunhalikutty and P.K. Babu, among others, welcomed him near the tarmac.
