The Suryakanthi Theatres, a drama troupe founded by the late playwright P.M. Antony, will organise a meeting in memory of Antony here on Sunday.
The meeting, which will begin at 2 p.m. near the playwright's residence in Mangalam ward here in the presence of several noted theatre persons, will first have a presentation on his major works.
Antony had died on December 22 when he was just about to give the finishing touches to his last work, ‘American Model Arabikkadalil'.
The presentation, according to a press release, would be followed by drama and literature connoisseurs from across the State sharing their memories of Antony after which a formal declaration on the formation of the P.M. Antony Foundation will be made.
The meeting will be followed by a staging of the play ‘American Model Arabikkadalil' at 7.30 p.m.
Antony had shot to fame with his play ‘Christuvinte Aaraam Thirumurivu' (The Sixth Wound of Christ), based on Nikos Kazantzakis's ‘The Last Temptation of Christ', which was banned in 1986 following protests from the Church and triggered debates on the freedom of expression. He was an active member of the State's modern theatre movement since then.
