The State Cabinet on Wednesday sanctioned higher secondary (Plus Two) schools in 134 panchayats which do not have one. Each school will get a single batch for the current academic year.
A Cabinet subcommittee has been constituted to consider the sanctioning of additional batches in schools, keeping burden on the exchequer to the minimum.
Only guest lecturersThe new schools may be permitted only to appoint guest lecturers or absorb excess teachers from other schools.
The Cabinet sanctioned new schools against the backdrop of a High Court order directing the government to consider sanctioning of schools in panchayats without higher secondary schools. There were differences in the Cabinet over sanctioning of new schools because of the financial implications.
