Kerala Forests Minister Benoy Viswom has urged the Union Minister of Environment and Forests, Jairam Ramesh, to propose the Silent Valley National Park in the State for inclusion in the World Heritage list of the UNESCO.

In a letter to Mr. Ramesh on Wednesday, copies of which were made available to the media on Thursday, he said: “Having celebrated the silver jubilee of the establishment of the Silent Valley National Park last year, time is ripe for suggesting this unique preserve of natural rain forest as one of the natural properties to be included in the World Heritage list.”
