Thousands of plantation workers staged a joint march to the Secretariat here on Thursday to press their demand for enhancement of daily wages to ₹600.
Inaugurating the march, CITU leader Anathalavattom Anandan said the plantation workers would launch a strong agitation if there was no favourable response from the government to their demand.
The other demands of the plantation workers include rejection of the Rajamanikiam Committee report, support for replanting of rubber, payment of 30 days’ gratuity to workers of plantations that have been remaining closed and implement the ESI scheme.
