Planning council clears review projects of 28 grama panchayats

The District Planning Council meeting held at the district collectorate at Painavu has cleared the review projects submitted by 28 grama panchayats; the Devikulam, Kattappana and Azhutha block panchayats; and the Thodupuzha municipality.

The grama panchayats of Nedumkandam, Velliyamattom, Vannapuram, Vellathooval, Kodikulam, Upputhara, Ayyappancoil, Purapuzha, Munnar, Karimkunnam, Chinnakanal, Vattavada, Kanchiyar, Kattappana, Elappara, Udumpannur, Manakkadu, Alakkode, Kamakshy, Mariyapuram, Peruvanthanam, Arakkulam, Vathikudy, Pampadumpara, Kumily, Pallivasal, Vazhathoppe, Chakkupallom and Erattayar had submitted review projects for clearance.

The meeting presided over by district panchayat president Lata Rajaji cleared 154 projects submitted before the council.

Ms. Rajaji said that with this, the annual plans submitted by all local bodies in the district were cleared. The local bodies will get nearly five months for implementing the projects. The watershed projects to be completed under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme submitted by Purappuzha, Edavetty, Manakkad, Udumpannur, Vattavada and Karinkunnam grama panchayats were also cleared.

District Planning Officer K. Jayapal and other council members and officials attended the meeting.
