The District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC) has decided to undertake the beautification of beaches in the district.

The decision was adopted at the DTPC’s executive committee meeting chaired by District Collector N. Padmakumar.

As per plan, the DTPC will construct a rest house and toilet near the pier at the Alappuzha beach at an estimated cost of Rs. 25 lakh, obtained from the Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) funds of K.C. Venugopal.

It has also decided to enhance facilities for visitors in the area between the pier to the Vijay Beach Park. Encroachments and unauthorised commercial outlets will be removed from the area.

The meeting also decided to complete the maintenance of buildings, which have been constructed using the tsunami rehabilitation funds, at the Andakaranazhi beach without further delay.

In addition, a children’s park, toilet block and lights will be set up using the development funds of Cherthala MLA, P. Thilothaman. The DTPC has directed the Kerala Industrial and Technical Consultancy Organisation Limited (KITCO) to ensure time-bound completion of beautification activities taken up at Arthunkal beach.
