Various programmes organised as part of the 20th State conference of the Kerala State Teachers' Association (KSTA) will be inaugurated by Communist Party of India (Marxist) State general secretary Pinarayi Vijayan at Muthalakulam Maidan at 4 p.m. on Monday.

A seminar on ‘Janakiya Vidyabhyasam, Janapaksha Vikasanam' is the inaugural programme. Conference welcome committee chairman T.P. Ramakrishnan will preside over the inaugural session. K.T. Jaleel, MLA; C. Usman, State general secretary of the association; and T.P. Kunjikannan, leader of the Association of Kerala Government College Teachers; will speak.

Seminar committee chairman M. Radhakrishnan told presspersons here on Saturday that prominent personalities would take part in the programmes organised in different parts of the district.

Social critic Sukumar Azhikode will inaugurate a seminar on ‘Secularism and Kerala' to be held at Mukkam on December 19, while M.N. Karassery will speak on the topic. Minister for Local Self-government Paloli Mohammed Kutty will inaugurate a seminar on ‘Malabar background of anti-colonial struggles' at Koduvally on January 10, while Forest Minister Benoy Viswom will inaugurate a seminar on ‘Media and democracy' at Nadapuram.

A ‘Smriti Sangamam' of teachers will be held at Koyilandy, while that of women teachers will be held at Vadakara. A seminar on ‘Development of Kerala and LDF' will be held at Perambra.

The 20th State conference of KSTA will be held here from February 5 to 8.

Welcome committee general convener P.K. Satheesh, State vice-president of the association Unnikrishnan and seminar committee convener V. Rajagopalan were present at the press meet.
