State secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) Pinarayi Vijayan suffered a vertigo attack while addressing a meeting here on Wednesday afternoon. He suffered the attack after speaking for about twenty minutes. He immediately called for drawing a chair close to him and then quickly sat on it.
The function was one organised to promote the party publication, Deshabhimani, in the district. He also briefly experienced speech difficulties, loss of balance and fatigue. After sitting down Mr. Vijayan vomited. He then had a tablet and took rest for about ten minutes sitting on the chair. When he afterwards felt that he was back to normal, Mr. Vijayan stood up and continued his speech for about six minutes.
After that he left for Thiruvananthapuram in his car. Meanwhile, in view of his health condition, Mr. Vijayan’s second programme in the district at Kuthupuzha scheduled for the evening was cancelled. That programme was to hand over a fund to the family members of the former CPI(M) Thenmala area secretary, Jayasankar, who passed away recently.
