Pension issue: Youth march peaceful

The march to the district collectorate here on Wednesday, as part of State-wide protest against raising of pension age, by the pro-Left Youth organsiations passed off peacefully without any untoward incidents except a few tense moments when agitators attempted to enter the collectorate bypassing the police barricade.

Police showed utmost restrain in spite of provocations by the agitators. AIYF national executive member, Prasanth Raju inaugurated the march. He said that the agitation will continue till the Government withdraw the decision to raise pension age of State employees, which he alleged will push youths to commit suicide.

There were some tense moments when agitators pushed aside the barricade and tried to barge into the collectorate. But timely intervention of the police stopped the agitators.
