A 64-year old pedestrian, identified as Velayudhan Pillai of Elakolloor Parackal Vadakkethil, has been fatally knocked down and run over by a speeding private bus near the St George High School junction at Elakolloor near Konni on Sunday evening.
A group of irate local people attacked private buses belonging to the operators of the private bus, Venad Travels and later staged a march to their office at nearby Pulimukku to protest against the incident.
The local action council have also called for a dawn-to dusk hartal in Elakolloor area on Monday, protesting against the alleged official indifference towards over speeding of private buses, posing threat to pedestrians.
