P.C. Thomas quits LDF

Plans to contest Aruvikkara by-poll as farmers’ candidate

May 28, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 09:00 am IST - KOTTAYAM:

P.C. Thomas, leader of the Kerala Congress faction lending allegiance to the Left Democratic Front (LDF), has finally decided to quit the coalition.

Speaking to The Hindu over telephone on Wednesday, Mr. Thomas said he was seriously thinking of contesting the Aruvikkara Assembly by-election. Mr. Thomas has been in a difficult position both within his party and in the coalition for quite sometime now. He has been the victim of an in-house political coup through which he was removed from the chairmanship by the second-in-command Scaria Thomas.
