Pavanan awards announced

The Pavanan Trust has selected U. Kalanathan for this year’s Pavanan Award. The award commemorates the life of rationalist and literary critic Pavanan.

Speaking to media persons here on Tuesday, Pavanan Trust president Rajagopal Vakathanam said that Mr. Kalanathan, who is the president of Kerala Yukthivadi Sangham (KYS), has been recognised for his rationalist and social works. The award carries a purse of Rs. 5000, a memento and a citation.

The Trust’s 'Mathamillaatha Jeevan’ Award for outstanding academic performance went to Durga S. Kumar, Aleena Sharon and Abu James.

The awards will be presented at the Pavanan Memorial Meet that will be held at the PWD Guest House hall in Thodupuzha on June 19. Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit Pro Vice-Chancellor Dr. S. Rajasekharan will inaugurate the event.

Pavanan Trust secretary Joseph Mathew and treasurer Sabu Joseph also participated in the press conference.
