Panic struck the people and the authorites as an LPG tanker lorry turned turtle while overtaking a lorry at Thazhekkad on the perinthalamana-Palakkad national highway, on Saturday, police said.

However, there was no leakage of gas from the tanker, they said.

The vehicular traffic on the perinthalmanna-Palakkad route has been affected due to the accident, which had triggered panic among the people in the area.

The tanker was coming from Mangalore to Coimbatore.
