The State Cabinet on Monday decided to appoint an expert committee to submit recommendations on Milma' plea for revision of milk prices.
Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan told the media after the Cabinet meeting that the committee, headed by Additional Chief Secretary P.K. Mohanti, would recommend fixing of prices in tune with the production cost. It would submit its report in a month.
The Chief Minister said the Cabinet had approved the report of the Padmanabhan Commission on revision of pay scales and pensions of judicial officers, subject to the final approval of the Supreme Court.
The Cabinet also approved the report of the M.A. Nissar Commission that inquired into the alleged irregularities and corruption in the Kerala State Wakf Board and associated institutions during the previous United Democratic Front government's term. Legal steps would be initiated against the accused on the basis of the report.
Mr. Achuthanandan announced that the moratorium on recovery of loans taken by fishermen would be extended by three months from May 2, 2010.
Seventeen 17 cents of land at Bela village in Hosdurg taluk in Kasaragod would be granted to the Fire and Rescue Services Department for setting up a fire and rescue station.
A sum of Rs.1 lakh each would be provided as solatium to the families of nine persons who had died in a motor accident at Velankanni recently. An amount of Rs.5 lakh would be given to the family of jawan Mrithyujjayan who was shot dead in Manipur.
The Chief Minister said Rs.1 lakh would be given to wrestler Harish, hailing from Anthikad near Thrissur, who had won a gold medal in the world arm wrestling championship in Egypt.
