In the violent incidents connected with the Collectorate march organized against increasing pension age by the State government the activists of the youth organizations of the Opposition Left Democratic Front (LDF) 60 persons were injured, one of them seriously, here on Wednesday.

They were admitted in the District Hospital. Some of them were discharged after given first aid, the police said.

The youth activists stoned the police as their march nearing the Collectorate in the morning.

The police first resorted to lathi charge and then busted teargas shells. Since the youth activists were continuing their stoning the police used grenades against the agitators.

In the fight between the police and the youth activists seven policemen and 53 youth were injured.

A worker of All India Youth Federation (AIYF) Naveen, who sustained serious injuries, was admitted in the Thrissur Medical College.

In the stoning by youth activists Deputy Superintendent of Police P.B. Prashob and Sub Inspector of Police P.I. Sunny Chacko were injured.

The District secretaries of Communist Party of India (Marxist) C.K. Rajendran and Communist Party of India K.P Sureshraj have visited the injured youth in the District Hospital and condemned the attack on them by the police.
