The Kerala High Court, on Monday, ordered seizure of telephonic records, including voice records, of Salim Raj, who was the Chief Minister’s gunman, and other accused in two land deal cases in Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam.
Justice V.K. Mohanan asked the State Police Chief or the Director, Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau, to take the records into custody in Thiruvananthapuram and the Inspector General of Police, Ernakulam Range, in Ernakulam.
The order was passed on a petition filed by Premachand R. Nair, Rema B. Nair and Mohanchand R. Nair from Thiruvananthapuram and another by Sherifa of Thrikkakara in Ernakulam seeking an investigation by a special team or the Central Bureau of Investigation into the cases.
The three petitioners said the accused had bribed and compelled the village officer of Kadakampally in Thiruvananthapuram and other revenue officials to forge false documents, among them a Thandaper, for obtaining the title deed of 12.27 acres of their land.
They alleged that Salim Raj and others misused their official position and political influence to cheat them.
They alleged that original documents of the land with the Revenue Department were destroyed by officials in the village offices and they might have done this at the behest of Salim Raj.
The other petition said Salim Raj had aided his brother-in-law Abdul Majeed to deny possession of ancestral property of 45 cents at Edappally Pathadipalam in Ernakulam.
