Orange autos from October 10

Orange autorickshaws being introduced to operate at night in the city will start plying from October 10, District Collector P.B. Salim has said.

He was speaking at a meeting of the road safety committee here on Tuesday.

Applications for permits will be accepted from September 19 to 24. Permits will be issued to 500 vehicles. Under the arrangement, the orange autos will ply within city limits from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. The services will be available mainly at the railway station, new bus-stand, Palayam bus-stand, Mavoor Road junction, medical college, and Arayidathupalam.

It was also decided at the meeting to install automatic signals at Korapuzha and Moorad bridges to regulate the flow of traffic. City Police Commissioner G. Sparjan Kumar attended the meeting.
