The Opposition United Democratic Front (UDF) disrupted the Question Hour for the second day on Wednesday demanding the ouster of Power Minister M.M. Mani from the Cabinet for his remarks against Pengal Otrumai activists and others.

As soon as Speaker P. Sreeramakrishnan commenced the proceedings, the UDF legislators were on their feet raising slogans against Mr. Mani and demanded his resignation for the derogatory observations made last week in public meetings in Idukki district. A black banner listing the demands were also displayed by the Opposition legislators.

Unmindful of the protest, the Speaker called Minister for Tourism Kadakampally Surendran to reply to the first question listed for the day. The Minister gave the reply amidst slogan shouting. As the Speaker called P.K. Abdu Rabb to raise supplementary questions, the UDF legislators stopped the slogan shouting and cooperated with the proceedings.

But, UDF legislators resumed the protest when the Power Minister started replying to the second question on the NTPC power plant at Kayamkulam. Amidst slogan shouting, Mr. Mani read out the reply and answered the supplementary questions by U. Pratibha Hari and E P. Jayarajan.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan intervened to give the reply when Leader of the Opposition Ramesh Chennithala raised supplementary question on the power plant.
