One person died on the spot and 10 seriously injured when a private bus plying in Kongad-Thrissur route lost control and fell into a paddy field at Thottupalam in Kongad-Pathiripala Road near Kongad on Thursday morning.
In the accident 27 people were injured. Ten of those who had sustained serious injuries were taken to Thrissur Medical College, Amritha Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi and E.M.S. Hospital at Perinthalmanna.
Others are admitted in the Palakkad district hospital.
The cleaner of the bus Ranjith (20) of Ambalakadavu at Panamanna died on the spot.
His body was fished out of the damaged bus using crane by the Fire and Rescue officials with the help of police and the local people.
