The final results of the One MP, One Idea competition have been announced.
According to Jose K. Mani, MP, the top slot has been lifted by the team from Saintgits College of Engineering, Pathamuttom, led by Althaff Mohammed of the Electrical and Electronics Engineering for their innovative idea in designing the Smart Advanced Metering Infrastructure that could be used in bringing down the loss in power transmission. They will get citation and a purse of ₹2.5 lakh as prize.
The first runner-up is the team from Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology, Pampady, led by Vaishakh S. Kumar. They have come up with the idea for a the Smart Flush Sanitation System that could be used in the western low-lying areas of the district during monsoons. The instrument could arrest the flooding of the tanks in the Upper Kuttanad areas, Mr. Mani said. The team will get a citation and ₹1.5 lakhs.
The team led by Shone John of the Mechanical Department of Saintgits College, that came up with the innovative idea of bring down the cost of 3D printing, has been adjudged third best in the contest. Their idea, ‘Fusion 3D,’ provides a cheaper alternative to the present 3D printing machines by adding an attachment to the common CNC (computer numerical control) machines. They will get ₹1 lakh and a citation.
