One more tribal child, Kavitha (one-and-a-half year old), daughter of Maruthy and Madhavan of Thaze Bhoothiyar in Pudur grama panchayat of Attappady, died in their hamlet on Friday.

Since January this year, 34 tribal infants have died due to malnutrition in Attappady Hills. Kavitha was underweight and was under treatment first at the Kottathara Tribal Specialty Hospital and recently at a private hospital in Agali. The parents of the deceased child said they did not get medical or other assistance from the government to save Kavitha.
