One more Communist Party of India (Marxist) worker was arrested on Monday in connection with the murder of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) functionary E. Manoj.

The Crime Branch investigating team arrested C. Prakashan (51) alias Chapra Prakashan, Patyam Service Cooperative Society managing director and member of the CPI(M) Patyam branch committee.

He was arrested by the investigating team on charges of taking prime suspect K. Vikraman to a safe haven for hiding.

Arranged vehicle

According to the investigating team, after the murder on September 1, Prakashan arranged a vehicle for Vikraman to travel from Kathirur to Kannur in the evening.

While Vikraman was travelling in an Innova car, Prakashan accompanied him in a Beloro jeep of the cooperative society.

The team also said Vikraman reached the office of a newspaper here and from there he was taken in a red Maruti Alto car to Payyannur with Prakashan again following the vehicle in the Bolero jeep.

The investigating officers said they were also questioning the driver of the jeep.

The Crime Branch team also said Vikraman, who suffered injuries from shrapnel of country-made bombs thrown at the vehicle of Manoj, had been given medical treatment at a cooperative hospital at Payyannur on September 1 night.

After that he had been taken to a hideout. The investigating team also said that more arrests would be made in the coming days.
