One killed, another injured as lodge collapses

A man was killed and another injured when a 70-year-old lodge here partially collapsed on Thursday. The deceased was identified as Ramanunny, 69, a palmist hailing from Thayyil in Kollam district. His body was found after the police and the Fire and Rescue Services cleared the rubble after almost five hours of work.

The body has been kept in the mortuary of the district hospital.

Raghupathy, 50, of Theni in Tamil Nadu, who was injured, has been admitted to the Thrissur Medical College Hospital.

The accident occurred around 7.30 a.m. when a part of the Kerala Bhavan lodge on Post Office Road collapsed. Three toilets on the first floor of the building collapsed.

Ramanunny and Raghupathy were trapped under the debris.
