The Ramankary Judicial First Class Magistrate, Subitha Chirakkal, on Thursday, posted the hearing on the bail petition by Om Prakash and Rajesh, 15th and 16th accused in the Paul Muthoot George murder case, to September 19.

The bail petition was originally filed by Priyadarshan Thampi, appearing for Prakash and Rajesh, on September 14 and initially posted to Thursday. The police on Thursday also filed a petition requesting the court’s permission to question in jail the 19 others accused in the case. They are currently in judicial remand in the Viyyur Central Jail, Thrissur. A request to collect their blood samples was also included in the petition, which was moved by the Assistant Public Prosecutor Manoj K. John.

In other related developments, the Alappuzha Sessions Court Judge E. Mytheen Kunju rejected the anticipatory bail petition moved by blacksmith Prasad and his brother Rangan. The two had filed the

petition, stating that they feared arrest or implication in false cases by the police after Prasad had revealed in a television channel sting operation that he had manufactured a knife on orders from the police. The knife was allegedly presented by the police as the weapon used by Kaari Satheesh to stab Paul.

According to the police, the anticipatory bail was rejected after the police submitted to the court a report stating that Prasad was not an accused in the case and that there was no intention to list him as an accused, or arrest him.

The Sessions Court also posted the hearing on the bail plea by Satheesh to September 24, reportedly because the police did not submit the case diary in the court.
