The State government on Wednesday informed the Kerala High Court that after a detailed verification of files at the secret section of the Police Headquarters it was found that no files were missing.

The audit of the files in the top secret/confidential section (T Section) at the Police Headquarters has been conducted following allegations that sensitive files have gone missing since Tomin J. Thachankary took charge as Additional Director General of Police, Headquarters.

In an additional affidavit, the government said the check period was from May 1, 2017, to July 30, 2017. The lists of files available at all the nine seats of T section were prepared. On qualitative verification of files, it was revealed that no files from T section were missing.

Former State Police Chief T.P. Senkumar had dashed off a letter to the Additional Chief Secretary, Home and Vigilance, alleging that Mr. Thachankary had prevailed upon the civil staff personnel at the section and taken away copies of the files relating to inquiries against Mr. Thachankary.

The government had earlier submitted that as ADGP, Headquarters, Mr. Thachankary did not deal with the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB). Therefore, he could not interfere with the investigation or the conduct of the case against him pending before the Muvattupuzha Vigilance court.

As for the allegations against Mr. Thachankary while he was the Transport Commissioner, the government had earlier informed the court that the Vigilance Director had given a directive to complete the investigation expeditiously. His continuance in service in a different post would not impede or adversely affect the ongoing investigation against him, the government said

The affidavit was filed in a case challenging the recent transfer of top police officials, including Mr. Thachankary.
