Recruitment to the Army is transparent and there is no scope for manipulation, P.S. Bajwa, Deputy Director General (Recruiting), Bengaluru zone, has said.
He was addressing a press meet at the Colachel stadium in the Pangode military camp on Tuesday. The rally, which began on April 18, will conclude on Friday.
The entire recruitment process was online and transparent, Brig. Bajwa said.
He said that of the 31,000 candidates who had applied online, 20,000 were expected to report at the rally. Of these, 1,800 would be provisionally selected for recruitment.
After the physical and medical review, a written examination would be held in July, which would be written by some 1,500-odd candidates. On the basis of physical and written exam, a merit list would be drawn up. Finally, about 400 or 500 candidates would be enlisted and they would start being sent to their regiments by September.
In between, a thorough verification of the documents submitted by the candidates would be conducted.
On the recent arrests of six youths from Uttar Pradesh for presenting fake documents at the rally, Brigadier Bajwa said two of them who had cleared the physical were arrested and they named the others during the investigation.
Aadhaar number
The first two were arrested after they presented themselves in front of the recruitment officials who went through their documents and found that their Aadhaar card and domicile certificate showed that they belonged to Kollam district. Though their address showed them to be from the same village, when they were asked if they knew each other they replied in the negative.
Not Keralites
They did not look like Keralites and did not understand Malayalam, he said.
All of them belonged to Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh.
Many of those involved in such rackets were former personnel who were familiar with the defence machinery. However, in this case, the role of no former defence personnel had come to light.
