No one above party, says Kodiyeri

February 28, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST - Thrissur:

Nobody is above the party, Communist Party of India (Marxist) State secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has said.

Addressing a meet-the-press organised by the Thrissur Press Club on Friday, he said the party manifesto would be the same for leaders and workers.

Inevitable part

“Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan is an inevitable part of the party. The party is trying to correct his stance. We don’t want anybody to leave the CPI(M),” he said. “The confusion at the Alappuzha meet will not affect the protest against Finance Minister K.M. Mani in the Assembly. Mr. Achuthanandan will lead the Opposition in the protest,” he said.

“The UDF rule is marred by corruption. Six Ministers are facing Vigilance investigation. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, who had refused to induct tainted persons in his 2005 Cabinet, has changed his stance. He himself is facing allegations in the solar scam. There is no follow-up in the bar bribery case. The law and order situation in the State is pathetic; even senior police officers are facing threat to their life,” he added.

He said the Chief Minister should remove K.M. Mani from the Cabinet to ensure an impartial investigation in the bar bribery case.

The Chief Minister had no moral right to continue in office against the backdrop of the revelations by Rijesh, brother of Manilal, in the solar case, he added.

He said the Centre had neglected the State in the Railway Budget. The State government should lead the protest against the Centre’s neglect and get the State’s rightful projects, he added.

“The CPI(M) is the Aam Admi Party in the State.  So there is no need for another Aam Admi Party in the State,” he said, when asked about the scope of cooperation with the AAP.

VS will lead the Opposition protest against Mani in the State Assembly
