The State government on Wednesday informed the Kerala High Court that there was no need to appoint a commission as suggested by the court to study the facilities being provided by Kerala State Beverage Corporation’s (Bevco) outlets.

The State government made the submission when a petition filed by Bevco against the notice of the Sasthamkotta grama panchayat directing Bevco to close down its outlet at Bharanikkavu came up for hearing.

The government submitted that the problems would not be resolved by appointing a commission.

The government further said that the functioning of Bevco was purely an administrative matter of the corporation and it did not involve any legal element which required to be ascertained by a commission as observed by the court.

The Bevco also made the submission that there was no need to appoint a commission.
