No leniency in installing speed governors

September 12, 2013 04:58 am | Updated November 16, 2021 09:16 pm IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

The government while strictly implementing the provision for installing speed governors in stage carriers to check overspeeding of buses, will also provide all help to the operators to confirm with the law.

The stand was made clear by Minister for Transport Aryadan Mohammed during talks with various associations of the private bus operators in the capital on Wednesday in the presence of Union Minister of State for Food and Civil Supplies, K. V. Thomas.

The meeting was held after the operators called off the indefinite strike launched on Sunday in the wake of the drive against stage carriers who had not installed speed governors or had tampered with them.

It is learnt that the private bus operators were given time informally till October 2 to fix the speed governors.
