V.S. Achuthanandan has dispelled the notion that he was being bogged down by age-related frailties.
“I am perfectly fine, there is nothing wrong with my health.” The declaration was made at the most unlikeliest of occasions. He said this while he was felicitated by the students of the Nirbhaya Debating Society at the Cantonment House on Sunday morning.
Responding to a question posed by one of the students, the 92-year old CPI (M) leader pointed out that he had no difficulties in addressing the numerous gatherings organised in the run-up to the Assembly polls. “Did you find anything wrong in me then? Do I appear as weak to you now,” he asked the group.
The nonagenarian also surprised the gathering with of his quick-witted responses. It did not take him much time to reply to a question posed by a 10th grade student on the factors that had led him to become active on social media. “Considering that we are all part of the internet-driven information age, it is only appropriate that I remain in tune with the changing times and do not get left behind,” he said.
