A total of nine cadets attached to the National Cadets Corps in Pathanamthitta will be taking part in the forthcoming Republic Day parade in Delhi on January 26.

According to Col. Ravikumar, commanding officer of 14 (K) NCC Battalion, the cadets selected for the Reupublic Day parade are Linson Thomas of St Thomas College in Kozhencherry, Shambhu Kumar and Sandeep Mathew from St Thomas College in Ranni, Mohit M. Nair from Republican High School in Konni, Amjatha Shaji of Mar Thoma Higher Secondary School in Pathanamthitta, Anandu, Avinash, Nithin and Anjali R. Pillai,from the Government Vocational Higher Secondary School at Kalanjoor.

Col. Ravikumar said the cadets have been undergoing special training in Delhi under Subedar Ramju Khan who has escorted them to Delhi.

The cadets have also visited the historical sites of Red Fort, Taj Mahal, Qutub Minar, etc. They will also get the privilege to meet Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, and Defence Minister, A.K. Antony, in Delhi, Col. Ravikumar said.

Joseph Samuel, alumni of the Keriya Vidyalaya at Adoor, who stood first in the Chennai region and was placed third at national level in the CBSE Class-XII Examinations in 2012 has also been invited to witness this year’s Republic Parade from the Prime Minister’s Box.

A letter issued by the Union Ministry of Human Resources Development said that Mr Samuel, along with 99 other meritorious students across the country would be special invitees to watch the parade from the Prime Minister’s box.

The Union Ministry will be making arrangements for their travel and accommodation in Delhi from January 25 to 28.
