BJP State general secretary K. Surendran alleged on Tuesday that the police was making a planned effort to misdirect investigation into the murder of a woman in the Congress office at Nilambur.

Addressing a press conference, the general secretary said that the Congress office was also the office of Electricity Minister Aryadan Mohammed as member of the Assembly representing the Nilambur constituency. The woman Radha was employed in the office, and Biju Nair, who was arrested by the police in the case, was a personal assistant of the Minister. It has been found that the body was lying in the office from 9 am till 9 pm when it was dumped in a pool. Her body was found only on the fifth day.

Mr. Surendran demanded that the Minister and his son Aryadan Shoukath should be questioned in the case. The phone records of the conversations by Biju Nair should also be examined, he said.

He recalled that though a ‘man missing’ case had been filed with the Nilambur police by 4.30 pm; the police did not take any significant action to find Radha. They also did not search the office though her mobile phone was active at the location till 9 pm. Radha had reportedly threatened to disclose some secrets that had the capacity to bring someone in the party to disrepute and this might have led to her murder. The police, who had claimed that she had been strangulated, was yet to accept the finding in the post mortem that she had also been raped.

Mr. Surendran said that the Minister’s contention that he came to know about the disappearance of an employee of his office only on Monday was not believable. People concerned would have informed him earlier.

The BJP leader demanded that the new KPCC president V. M. Sudheeran, who was known for his sense of justice, should intervene to ensure a proper enquiry. The case would test his honesty and sense of justice, he added.
