A new version of the official website of Indian Institute of Spices Research (IISR) here will be formally launched by S. Raghavan, Joint Secretary, Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, on Friday at the library hall of the institute.
The new website, when it is fully operational, will have many interactive features like audio capsules and streaming videos on agricultural technologies, success stories, information on farm practices and media resources. The website, developed in open source platform Joomla, will also have new features like Data Syndication and other interactive services.
"The new website is a part of Indian Council of Agricultural Research's (ICAR) efforts to standardise ICAR websites and give an improved look and feel to portals of agricultural institutes under the council. Besides giving a corporate identity to ICAR, the initiative will ensure uniform content and use of web 2.0 technologies," V.A. Parthasarathy, Director of IISR, said on Thursday. The IISR site can be accessed at www.spices.res.in\spice.
