Wayanad's new District Collector T. Bhaskaran
T. Bhaskaran, the new District Collector of Wayanad, has said that he has directed the authorities concerned to curb illegal granite mining in the district. On Tuesday, in his first meeting with mediapersons after taking charge as Collector, he said he had noticed that illegal granite mining was posing environmental hazards.
Mr. Bhaskaran said that he would give first preference to solve the problems of small scale farmers in the district with the help of non governmental organisations (NGOs) and political parties. Measures would be taken to deal with troubles faced by the tribal communities too.
