Ayyappa temple witnesses heavy rush

A new batch of 1,612 police personnel, including new Assistant Police Special Officer Harisankar, assumed charge at the Sabarimala Sannidhanam on Monday.

Police Special Officer K. Vijayan, accompanied by the Assistant Special Officer, and G. Vijayan, Deputy Commandant of the Rapid Action Force of the Central Reserve Police Force, gave directions to the new batch on important aspects to be followed as part of their Sabarimala duty.

The batch comprises three deputy police commissioners, 18 deputy superintendents of police (Dy.SP), 30 circle inspectors, 110 sub-inspectors, and 1,450 civil police officers.

Heavy rush

The Ayyappa temple witnessed heavy rush on Monday. The pilgrims braved heavy downpour in the forests over the past 24 hours. They had to wait for hours inside the zigzag barricade leading to the Sannidhanam.
