New mode of protest by doctors

April 30, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:36 am IST - ALAPPUZHA:

Doctors under the aegis of the Kerala Government Medical Officers Association (KGMOA) will organise medical camps for workers on May 1 to detect diseases arising out of lifestyle disorders.

The programme is being organised as part of a State-wide plan to register protest against unfair treatment meted out to doctors in respect of pay revision.

The association said in a press release on Friday that Antony, president of Alappuzha district unit of Indian Medical Association, would inaugurate the programme at 10 a.m. on Sunday at the Jos Alukkas grounds.

KGMOA is opposed to the pay revision order in which the basic pay has been reduced. The statement said the doctors had worked extra hours in hospitals on February 29 and held dharnas at district level on April 5 in protest against the government move. — Special Correspondent
