In a bid to give thrust to tourism infrastructure development, Kerala government on Wednesday decided to form a new company that would focus on promoting private investments and take up public private partnership (PPP) model projects.
The Tourism Resorts Kerala Ltd (TRKL), a subsidiary of Kerala Tourism Developemnt Corporation, would be delinked from the parent company and re-constituted as Kerala Tourism Infastructure and Investment Corporation Ltd, Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan told reporters here.
TRKL Managing Direct Mansoor said though the company in its present form was taking up tourism promotion projects, there was no focused attempt on its part on infrastructure development. Now the new company would focus on infrastructure development, he said.
TRKL had already initiated ten tourism projects in the tourist spot of Velli here with a total outlay of Rs 100 crores, he said. The tender process to identify private partner was progressing, Mr. Mansoor added.
