New chief priest for Guruvayur temple

Kulathara Peeyanour mana Narayan Namboothiri was today selected as the new Melshanthi (chief priest) of the famous Sree Krishna temple here.

The priest, hailing from Kavalapara in Palakkad district, will take charge for a six month period from October 1, temple sources said. Mr. Narayan was selected from 56 applicants by draw of lots.

His name was picked up by the present Melshanthi Thekkupurathu Mannkal Unnikrishnan Namboothiri, they said.
