‘Nehru’s ideas cannot be discarded’

May 28, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:48 am IST - KOLLAM:

Congress leader and State Film Academy chairman Rajmohan Unnithan has said that the nation cannot be taken forward by discarding the values of Jawaharlal Nehru.

He said this while addressing a seminar on ‘Contemporary importance of Nehru’s thoughts’ here on Wednesday.

Mr. Unnithan said that it was because of the strong foundation for the nation laid by Nehru that India is continuing as a strong democracy even as other nations younger than India face severe internal problems. The Five-Year Plan was an important aspect of the country’s development and it shows the positive forethought of Nehru.

The seminar was organised by the Information and Public Relations Department in association with the Nehru Yuva Kendra and the Kollam Press Club to observe the 52 death anniversary of Nehru.
