Nearly three p.c. increase in SSLC pass in Palakkad District

There is 2.96 per cent increase in the students who had passed the S.S.L.C Examination in the District for which the results were declared on Thursday.

The results showed that compared to the last year Palakkad made slight improvement in the SSLC results and took 13th position pushing Thiruvananthapuram to the last and 14th position among the Districts in the State.

The district recorded 86.8 per cent pass in the SSLC examination in 2011 as against the 83.04 per cent of 2010.

Out of the total 40,667 students who sat for the examination 34,973 became eligible for higher studies.

Twenty schools in the district recorded 100 per cent pass this time compared to 23 in 2010.

The schools in the most backward Attappady tribal area of the district 88 per cent of the students who wrote SSLC examination got passed.

Two tribal schools recorded 100 per cent results.

They are Model Residential School in Mukkali and Adivasi High School in Chindakki.

In the M.R. School all the 35 students who had appeared for the SSLC passed the examination and in Chindakki tribal school all the 26 got passed.

Out of the total 704 students who sat for SSLC examination 615 were victorious.

The SSLC examination results showed that all the government schools in Attappady improved their performance in the SSLC examination this time.

The lowest SSLC pass percentage of 52.76 per centage was from C.A.H.S. School in Peruvembu in the Palakkad Education District where only 67 students out of the total 167 who had appeared for the examination passed.

The other school is S.S.O.H.S.S of Lakkidi in Ottapalam Education district where 87 students out of the 115 who had written the SSLC examination got passed recording 75.65 per cent pass.

District Panchayat President T.N. Khandamuthan has said that many schemes that were implemented by the local bodies to improve the SSLC examination results had started yielding results. They had implemented schemes like `Harishree’, Vijayashree’ etc in many schools that were found backward.

He said that steps are being taking to improve the educational standards of the school students in the District in a couple of year the district will reach the State average in the percentage of pass in SSLC examination.
